I am Pablo Ariel Escudero, a scholar of architecture, particularly historic architecture. From the beginning of my career, I have focused on studying the built cultural heritage, exploring the construction of historic buildings, the impact of time on materials, and the pathologies and anomalies that arise as a result. I have also specialized in analyzing techniques and intervention criteria to revitalize these structures.
In recent years, I have focused my interest on the use of digital technologies applied to the surveying and analysis of data, with the goal of determining specific actions for historic buildings. This has led me to delve deeper into point cloud digitization (PCD), the implementation of Heritage Building Information Modeling (HBIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and data analysis through data science.
Currently, I am a researcher at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), where I combine my expertise in architecture with digital tools to advance the digitization and preservation of architectural heritage.
Research
My research focuses on the application of digital technologies, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and point cloud data, in the analysis and conservation of architectural heritage. Through the integration of techniques like Scan-to-BIM, the development of 3D models, and the use of HBIM (Heritage Building Information Modeling), I aim to optimize the surveying and documentation of historic buildings.
The Valencia Cathedral has served as my experimental laboratory. This approach enables the digital preservation of historical monuments and their detailed analysis. Furthermore, I explore the integration of geospatial tools and the creation of digital twins, combined with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), to offer innovative solutions for the management, analysis, and conservation of architectural heritage in the digital age.
